This 2 session workshop is aimed at total beginners wanting to take their first steps into oil painting. In session one of this we will look at how to use oil paints and techniques you can achieve with them. Recordings last over 2 hours each.
Over the 2 sessions we will explore.
How to use oil paints.
Thinning and cleaning mediums
“Fat over lean”
Alla prima and impasto painting
Scumbling
Underpainting and glazing
Session 1. We will be painting a simple still life of an apple, trying different techniques to see the different results you can achieve.
Session 2. We will create a larger Coastal painting where we use various techniques together.
For this sessions you will need –
Oil paints of assorted colours
Acrylic paints -white, yellow, red and a brown such as burnt umber
Thinning medium such as linseed oil
Cleaning medium such as turpentine substitute (we recommend a low oder one)
Assorted brushes.
Lots of kitchen roll or old rags
A palette knife
Small canvases around A5 size or oil paper pad that can be cut down
A palette, palette pad or paper plates to mix on.
We would also recommend that you put down protective coversings and wear protective clothes or oldones you don’t mind getting paint on.
A device to view the session that is zoom compatible.
Session will be recorded and a link sent out after the event.
